Crock-Pot Strawberry Moonshine
Crock-Pot Strawberry Moonshine
This is one of my biggest passions. I love creating new and tasty Adult drinks for my friends to enjoy. I make these every year and at Christmas time, this is my gift to my work friends.
This recipe can also be made on the stove top. Add the sugar, water, lemon juice and strawberry puree to a medium size stock pan and heat to just before it starts to boil stirring occasionally. Turn off the heat and allow the liquid to cool completely.
Mix in the Everclear (or Vodka) and pour the liquid into quart or pint size canning jars. Secure lids and rings. Store in a cool, dark place until use. Shake before drinking. Remember this is a strong alcohol drink and caution should be used when drinking. The alcohol makes this shelf stable but you can also store it in the refrigerator.
The longer this drink sits, the better the flavor will be. 30 days is recommended.
Everclear Pure Grain Alcohol is a type of hard liquor that can be found in the Midwest. Some areas do not sell Grain Alcohol. You can also use Vodka and the drink will have a similar flavor. Vodka is also a lesser proof.

- Rinse the strawberries with clean water to reduce the potential of an infection from wild yeast or bacteria on the fruit. Remove the green tops from the strawberries which can add bitterness to the mash. Carefully pick out any rotten or spoiled strawberries which will contaminate the mash. Blend the washed, cut strawberries together to form a puree. Adding the raisins: While blending the strawberries, add raisins to the mix little by little until the entire amount of raisins have been blended into the strawberry puree mix.
- Ensuring that the equipment you use is clean, measure out 9.5 litres of your strawberry puree into a brewing bucket. Add 11 litres of purified water to the strawberry puree. Take a specific gravity reading of the mash as you will need to use a brix refractometer as the mash will be too thick for a hydrometer. The Strawberry mash should have a specific gravity reading around 1.024 which would yield around 3.5% ABV. Adding sugar: Add sugar slowly until you reach a starting gravity of 1.054, as this will yield around an 8% starting alcohol (before distilling). Ensure that the mixture is stirred well after adding the sugar as it will affect your brix readings.
- Heat the mash to 70 degrees Celsius. Heating it up should kill most wild yeast and bacteria. Once the mash has reached 70 degrees Celsius, use a wort chiller to cool the mash to 21 degrees Celsius. When the mash is at 26 degrees Celsius, start making your yeast starter. Once the mash is cooled to 21 degrees Celsius, transfer it to your fermentation vessel.
- Add the yeast starter to the fermenter. Add a sterilized airlock to the fermenter. Ferment in a dark place around 21 degrees Celsius
- Strain liquid to remove pulp before transferring into a still. Leave plenty of head space in the still, being careful not to fill the vapor cone with liquid. Complete a stripping run on high heat. Complete a spirit run using low heat. Discard foreshots and heads, keep hearts for drinking, save tails for future feints runs.
- Add hearts to sterile jars packed with fresh strawberries. Age for about week before drinking Drink and Enjoy! Let us know how your moonshining efforts are going! As always, keep shining!
Easy Strawberry Infused Moonshine Recipe
One thing I look forward to the most about spring is fresh strawberries at our local farmers market. They have such a short season where we live that we have to maximize their use while we have them and I thought what better way then to make strawberry infused moonshine to be enjoyed all year.
How to make Strawberry Moonshine
This recipe is really easy and when finished will give you 2 liters of strawberry infused moonshine. Prep time is 5 min and total time to complete is 20 min.
Ingredients & Materials
- 2 L Moonshine 80 -100 proof
- 4 cups Strawberries ( thinly sliced)
- Cheese Cloth
- 3 – 1 L mason jars
Directions
Step 1 – Clean berries and remove stems. Cut into thin slices to maximize flavor infusion.
Step 2 – Place Strawberries into mason jars with equal amount in each jar.
Step 3 – Top off with Moonshine, Vodka or Everclear which ever you may have handy.
Step 4 – Let stand in a cool dark place for 4 weeks. Shake the jars every two days to help with the infusion process. After 4 weeks remove strawberries by straining through cheese cloth. With fruit extracted re-bottle the strawberry moonshine.
At this point your done making the strawberry infused moonshine I’m not a fan of sweet things so I usually stop at this point. However if you’re after a strawberry liqueur this can be accomplished by following step 5 and 6 below.
Step 5 – Add 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of water and 1 tsp of lemon juice to a small pot. Bring to a boil and stir for one minute. Remove from heat and allow simple syrup to cool.
Step 6 – Add simple syrup to the Strawberry Infused Moonshine until desired sweetness is achieved. Glycerine can also be added to help thicken and smooth out your strawberry moonshine liqueur.
Final Notes:
Strawberry infused Moonshine taste great on its own but if your feeling adventurous consider adding, vanilla bean, lime, orange or lemon zest to your base. If you’ve had success with a strawberry infusion why not share your success or failures with us. Just leave a comment below, we always love to hear from our readers.
Here’s a video I found that does a great job of showing how to make fruit infused vodka. Sometimes watching a video is easier then reading instructions.
Strawberry Brandy 2022
If you ever wondered if it?s a good idea to make a spirit while eating fresh strawberries, this strawberry brandy is exactly the confirmation you?ve been waiting for.
Yes, you can make a damn fine spirit using your favorite berries, and the best part of it is that you don?t need fresh berries to make some. Just make sure to have some frozen strawberries stashed in the freezer or make a trip to a local grocery store and pick something good.
Other than that, the recipe is quite simple and easy to make, without any complex processing. Just mix things up, pitch that yeast, ferment then distill. It doesn?t get any better than this!
- Put strawberries into a bowl and let thaw.
- Pour one gallon of water into a pot, warm to about 90?F, then add 5 pounds of sugar, mix well until fully dissolved.
- Once the strawberries have thawed mash them into puree, then add the sugar syrup.
- Dump the mix into the fermenter then add the remaining 4 gallons of water.
- Add yeast, close the lid, put airlock in place and let ferment completely for about 10 days at room temperature.
- Once the fermentation is done, strain the wash off any solids in the fermenter into the still using a siphon tube.
- Distill as you normally do, divide into cuts then package for storage and sippin'!
Using fresh strawberries is definitely a better option than store-bought frozen, but it makes the recipe rather seasonal.
You can play around with different types of yeast to get different flavors, read our guide on the best types of moonshine yeast.

Check out How to Make Strawberry Lemonaid Moonshine
1. Use fresh strawberries
When it comes to using fruit in any type of drink, it is important that you get fresh fruit. You may think that using slightly old fruit will not hinder the taste much, but boy would you be wrong.
Fresh fruit provide an added punch to the taste that really gets your taste buds going. If you don’t believe us then try making moonshine with older strawberries and then with fresh ones and compare.
2. Let the moonshine “age”
Well not actually age, but when you have the moonshine ready you should let it sit for roughly two weeks.
It is usually recommended that you refrigerate the moonshine for that period which really allows the flavor to develop.
This is the case with most any type of moonshine you make, while some can be stored at room temperature, refrigerating them for this period is usually a better option.
3. Use lemon juice in the mixture
Many people probably think that a strawberry moonshine will just have strawberries in it. However, adding lemon juice to the moonshine will give the flavor a little added kick.
The lemon flavor blends well with the strawberry flavor which just enhances the overall flavor. You want to make sure you don’t overpower the strawberries with adding too much lemon juice.
So for every pint of strawberry puree you add, add 2 cups of lemon juice.
4. Use strawberry puree
It’s obvious that you aren’t going to be using full strawberries in a moonshine. You want to blend the strawberries into a complete puree. Make sure the puree is not chunky and completely blended.
5. Remove all pulp
When you pour your moonshine into a mason jar to store it, you want to make sure to remove all the pulp from it. The pulp actually distorts the taste of the moonshine, especially since you will be refrigerating it for 2 weeks. To remove the pulp, all you have to do is use a strainer.
